Cultivator
A cultivator is used in the garden to remove weeds. This type of tool consists of a set of wheeled tines that interlock as they roll. These tines are mounted to a head that is then attached to a handle.

A cultivator has three prongs and looks like a small rake. It is very useful for breaking up and aerating the soil prior to planting seeds and seedlings. It can also be used to remove weeds that crop up between plants.

The cultivator comes in two different flavors; long handled and hand models.

Sometimes referred to as a hand fork, the cultivator is used for weeding, and as its name implies, for cultivating the soil. It weeds faster than a trowel, but is less precise, so you must be careful not to damage any desirable plants.

Cultivator. A cluster of metal tines on a long handle, a cultivator is used to break up hard, crusty soil around plants. A clam rake can double as a cultivator.
A good, sharp pocket knife is a handy tool for every gardener.

3. A cultivator. Cultivating tools have a wide variety of names, from hoes to hand tillers.

A handheld cultivator is essential for breaking up clumps of soil away from roots and root vegetables.

I use a hand cultivator and scratch up the sides of the planting hole as it can become very compacted while digging the planting hole. Fill the hole about half full with water.

Place the piece of plywood in the center of the sod you will be using to repair the bare spot. Cut through the sod, again following the edge of the board.
