Dactylifera

In the Palm Grove, date palms (Phoenix dactylifera) over 25 feet tall pierce the azure sky. At their feet grow triangle palms (Neolypsis decaryi) from Madagascar, fishtail palms (Caryota) from Southeast Asia, and other exotic species.

Date palm (Phoenix dactylifera)
This is the classic 'desert oasis' palm, with tall trunks to 70 or 80 feet and long, slightly arching fronds of stiff, pointed leaflets.

The Canary Island Date Palm (Phoenix canariensis) and the Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera), used for commercial production of dates, are tall feather-leafed palms that grow better in dry climates than in moist tropics.
