Your desiccant can be used again by carefully drying out in an oven. When cooled it should be ready to use again.

SILICA GEL: A desiccant used to dry flowers for craft use.
SINGLE FLOWER: A flower with a normal amount of petals present, arranged in a single row. Daisies are a good example of this type.
SLIP: A cutting.

There are some antidesiccant products you can spray on your tree to help slow the drying process. But if they're not used properly, some of them leave a residue and may cause premature defoliation (loss of leaves or needles).

You can protect the branches and buds by wrapping them with burlap or by spraying on an anti-desiccant, like Wilt-Pruf. (Anti-desiccants are handy to have around. You can prolong the life of your Christmas tree with a spray.

Winter wind protection is important for marginally hardy plants or those newly planted. Wind screens and anti-desiccants can help protect plants, but native plants and plants well-adapted to a cold hardiness zone seldom need protection.

Evergreen woody plants, particularly vulnerable to desiccating winds, can be sprayed with an antidesiccant, also known as antitranspirant, and may need to be protected against harsh winter sun with burlap screens.
