DITHER - Just a plain old utensil of any kind to make a hole in the ground to drop a seed into.
Iris borers can be one of the leading causes of dither among your iris plants. The destruction of irises, via the infestation of iris borers, is almost entirely unique to the eastern coast, with a few exceptions.
Plants such as Cotoneaster horizontalis and Hydrangea quercifolia, are ditherers - they drop their leaves in cold winters but keep them if it is mild. Beech and hornbeam hedges retain their old dead leaves until the following spring.
