Edible flowers of the culinary herbs include chives, basil, dill, cilantro, sage, thyme and oregano. Popular annual flowers that are edible include nasturtium, calendula, squash, radish, African marigold and Johnny-jump-up.

Wild edible plants are everywhere you turn. Not only is it free food, and the healthiest, and most energizing - using wild plants is the greatest stride towards self-sufficiency you can make. It's even better than planting a garden . . .

Other edible flowers include lavender, lilac, apple/crabapple blossom, oxeye daisy (Noxious weed! Eat up!), borage, chive, chicory, chrysanthemum, rose, nasturtium, yucca, petunia, tulip, and, of course, the saporous honeysuckle.

Current interest in herb growing and adventurous cooking has led to increased use of edible flowers. Floral ingredients add flavor, texture, color and excitement to many recipes.

Non-Edible Variation:
Try adding 1 tsp dish soap or insecticidal soap (something without fragrances and additives is preferred) to the mix. Not only will it aid in the mix sticking to the insect, but will also do its own damage.
