Essential amino acid

Gardening EspalierEthnobotany

Several of the Mediterranean lupines are widely cultivated for animal feed because lupine seeds contain the full range of essential amino acids and can be grown in cooler climates than soy, the commonly planted feed crop.

Pecans are a complete protein, containing significant amounts of 18 essential amino acids. They are a good source of energy, but are also high in fat.

Beans contain fiber and a lot of protein, including the essential amino acid lysine. (Most grains lack lysine; combine them with beans, however, and they form a complete protein.) They also provide folacin (folic acid) and some minerals.
