Fertilizer ratio TThe fertilizer ratio represents the proportion of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in fertilizer. These percentages are represented by a series of three numbers.
Fertilizer Ratio (An easier comparison): An easier way to compare the numbers is to break them down to the fertilizer ratio or the amounts of the 3 major nutrients in relation to each other. A 5-10-5 fertilizer has a ratio of 1-2-1.
The fertilizer ratio is based on the N. P205, K20 numbers; for example, if the fertilizer analysis is 164-8, the fertilizer ratio is 4-1-2; similarly, a 147-14 analysis would have a 2-1-2 ratio.
