Good garden design relies heavily on the choice of filler plants. Filler isn't a very respectful term, but filler plants can make or break your garden.
Filler plants. The remaining space between vertical and trailing plants should be packed with fillers. These are medium-sized plants that round out the container.
Fillers: take up mid-ground space without distracting from the thriller. Begonias, lantanas, coleus, salvias, parsley, low-growing grasses and numerous other foliage and flowering plants fall into this category.
