I'm in a local garden club, and am just wondering how many of you are also in garden clubs? What are some of the program topics your club has had (or has planned for this year) at your meetings?

Local garden clubs and plant societies often host tours of their members' gardens, giving you an opportunity to visit gardens in your community and chat with the gardeners.

Botanic gardens, garden clubs, and your extension service can all steer you to plants that are right for your region. And don't forget your nursery. "Local garden centers are very in tune with what does well in their area," O'Meara says.

Looking for some inspiration? Visit public gardens and arboretums to see how the pros do it. Also check in with garden clubs - they often have tours to show off what their members have created. Don't be bashful - gardeners love to share!
