Garden rooms are outdoor rooms that provide extra living space outside of your primary residence. They're the next step in incorporating your outdoor living space into your 'inside life.

The various garden rooms all have a story. For example, the rose garden came about when a large tree fell and opened up a patch of sunlight. The "anniversary garden" was built by Darryl on the hottest day of the summer as a gift for his wife.

Pam and Wal work for hours each day in the series of garden rooms which they have created.

In the middle ages, the shape of the garden rooms and planting beds may have been more rectangular and square. Currently, the fashion in English gardens is for soft, curving lines and winding paths.

Farther along is one of the most memorable garden rooms at Longwood: the Italian Water Garden. The pools, inspired by the garden of the Villa Gamberaia near Florence, Italy, are flanked with ivy and feature 600 jets of water.

The Victorians created garden rooms in their homes but were limited in their plant choices by the amount of available natural light.
