A Steep Grade
Most people who have a lawn on a steep slope or grade know how difficult it is to water.

 


Grade and slope
The right grade for your feature depends on the type of water garden you're planning.

GRADE - A system of classifying the contrast of photographic papers used in making black and white prints, ranging from 0 to 5 (soft to hard).
GRADUATED FILTER - See Gradated filter above.

GRADE - Not your A, B, C's in class, but the degree or direction of a slope, generally. Real important with house construction and ground placement.

Lesser Grades (Small size bulbs) This is one time you don't need the biggest, most expensive grade bulb. A swath of small bulbs will but on a good show and will have time to mature and spread in your lawn.

Grade six students of the school had a fundraiser to generate funds to build the frog pond as part of the garden. They have started to build it by digging and shaping the hole and lining it with plastic.

Graden.com is a well-designed site. Loading time is fairly quick, and many options exist. Searching the site for products, stories and more is easy, and the plant finder feature is also helpful.

Grade 1 is the best and most expensive grade. In order to obtain this grade the plants are required to have at least three strong cains, two of which must be at least 18 inches in length for hybrid teas anf grandifloras.

GRADE: The degree or direction of a slope. Mainly associated with house construction and landscaping.
GRAFT: Process whereby a part taken from one plant is made to unite with and grown upon another part of a plant.

Fine grade fir bark is the most commonly used potting medium for plants in pots 6" and under. Use medium grade bark for larger pots. Repot about once every two years in spring after blooming or when new growth starts.

Finer grade mulch such as triple shredded bark is better than a coarse grade of mulch such as large chunks of bark. It is easier to spread around the flowers, and a thinner layer of mulch is needed to cover the underlying soil.

Top the graded base with a levelled and compacted 2 inch layer of sand. Lay the first line of pavers following the line of the perimeter string, bedding each one on five spaced trowelfuls of ready-mixed mortar (image 1).

How to Upgrade Soil in an Established Garden
Just because your garden is already established doesn't mean you can't upgrade the soil.

The second-grade teachers noticed the sign first. They're used to getting gifts from their eight-year-old students, especially at Christmas, and thought nothing of signing up for three of each variety.

Another upgrade:

Fertilizer grade-An expression that indicates the weight percentage of plant nutrients in a fertilizer. Thus a 10-20-10 grade contains 10 percent nitrogen (N), 20 percent phosphoric acid (P2O5) and 10 percent potash (K2O).

Dutch bulbs are graded by size, and reputable bulb suppliers will list the size of their bulbs in centimeters of circumference. Only the largest, highest-quality bulbs can be listed as "top size.

Some brands to include in your research are Firestone PondGard EPDM, Butyl Rubber Liners, Royal Liners, GeoCHEM liners, and RTC PondGrade EPDM. Be sure NOT to use roofing EPDM, there are chemicals in it that can and will kill your fish and plants.
