Row covers, hotcaps (or plastic milk cartons with the caps removed), and plastic tunnels are great for getting plants off to an early start.
Eggplant is a hot weather crop. It is susceptible to cold temperatures and frost. Delay planting in the spring until nighttime temperatures are in the upper forties. Use hotcaps early in the season on cool nights.
