Irrigated-Land that has been artificially supplied with water for agriculture or landscaping usually through ditches, pipes, or by diverting rivers.

 


A sub-irrigated grow box conserves water and space. Sub-irrigated grow boxes store water at the bottom of the container, where it is wicked up into the soil as plants require it.

Saving water in irrigated landscapes is easy. First, changing the way a lawn and Garden is watered can reduce the water used. Reducing the area of a landscape that is irrigated can also conserve water.

The most obvious aspect of good lawn care is to ensure that the lawn is sufficiently well and regularly irrigated.

When caring for your peppers, be sure they are kept sufficiently irrigated. Once pepper plants wilt, their fruit yield and quality are reduced. Fertilizer can be used after the first fruit has appeared and begins to enlarge.

Its past use was as an extensive area of irrigated lawn used for sport and recreation, but 8 years ago that started to change.

Time for Annual Planting. For the heavily irrigated border, try petunia, bedding begonia, coleus, impatiens, and asters. Less water is required for marigolds, sweet alyssum, portulaca, cosmos, and gloriosa daisy.

One cause of loss in new plantings is that the rootball is dry and sheds water when irrigated. The danger is especially great with the peat-based soil mixes used for growing azaleas, mountain laurels, and rhododendrons.

Soil type or texture is a major determining factor of how much water a soil will hold, or how quickly a soil can be irrigated. For example, 1 inch of water applied to a sandy soil will penetrate 12 inches.

Trees should be irrigated during periods of hot, dry weather to minimize drought stress which predisposes the tree to twig and branch infections.

Zinnias do not require a lot of water, but they should be irrigated during dry weather to keep them blooming at their best. Trickle irrigation is best as sprinklers tend to increase the chances of disease.

A subsurface irrigated tennis court is watered from below the surface of the court rather than above. Subsurface watering systems cost between $3,000 and $8,000.

Too much rain can leave your lawn faced with a whole host of unexpected problems. Over-irrigated plants wilt, yellow, and eventually die.

The other area is under open woodland and will require native grass that will not be irrigated. Do you have any advice on which species of grass could be used in each area ?
