Ideally, a drip irrigation system, soaker hose, bubbler or micro sprinklers are the best method for delivering water to the flowers. Each of these irrigation methods can deliver water gently, over an extended time to the ground surrounding the plants.

Drip-irrigation systems are simple, easy to install and take the work and worry out of watering. Add a timer and your plants will be content even if you can't be there to give them daily attention.

Trickle or drip irrigation systems allow slow water penetration into the root zone with minimum surface wetting. Such installations may be worthwhile, particularly if large areas are to be irrigated.

Soaker hoses have tiny weep holes and are made of polyethylene and old, recycled car tires.

The trick with drip irrigation is precision. The drip must be applied at the base of the plant and must be no more than a tiny trickle. Having the water flowing any faster is most often a waste.

Irrigation of land does not act only by the water itself, but by that which is dissolved or diffused in it.

Next, you want to provide irrigation for your lawn, water is a vital element, and few climates will provide sufficient water without supplemental irrigation. Most lawns require about an inch of rain per week.

Create your water distribution hose by drilling several small holes in a piece of irrigation tubing cut to fit the bottom of the trough. Connect one end of the tube to one of the fittings on the inside of the trough.
