Lopping shears have handles that are about 2 feet long. Longer handles increase your leverage and allow you to cut branches up to 1½ inches in diameter. For larger limbs, you'll most likely require a pruning saw.

Most lopping shears are designed for cutting branches an inch in diameter or smaller, but larger heavy duty models are also available. Loppers come with either blade and anvil jaws or hook and blade style.
Lopping shears have long handles and are operated with both hands. Even the cheapest can cut 1/2 -inch diameter material. The better ones can slice through branches of 2 inches or more, depending on species and condition (e.g.

A popular type is a lopping shear at the end of a pole. The lopping blade is controlled from ground level via a cord that passes through pulleys. Pole pruners are convenient for removing smaller limbs, like those on fruit trees.

Within a week or so, the bud will begin to grow (Image 25), as will previously dormant buds on the stock--note the just-broken rootstock bud to the left of the new budling.
Lopping destroys the shape of the tree and is often totally unnecessary. However, it is important to prune out dead and diseased branches as this helps to keep them healthy.
In this case, pruning wisteria trimming can be accomplished by lopping and cutting as much as you want, down to about three feet below where you really want the wisteria to be.
The bud is then forced into growth by lopping the rootstock. Cut about 3/4 of the way through the stock, on the same side as the bud and about 4-6 cm (1.5-2.5 inches) above it; then push the top over to lay on the ground.
A pair of reasonable quality, large secateurs and a pair of lopping shears make most pruning jobs quick and simple. For large branches a pruning saw or even a chainsaw may be necessary.

These include sharp-edge pruning shears, long-handled lopping sheers (for thicker canes), and thick, durable gardening gloves for all around safety from thorns. Always make sure shears are sharp because dull tools will tend to crush the canes.

Rather than removing it you might want to leave it right where it is, lopping off any dangerous or unsightly limbs and letting nature take its course with the rest.
To promote next year's flowers, each spring, after the flowers have faded, use lopping shears to cut off one-third of the largest, oldest, and least floriferous stems to the ground. Also remove any dead or damaged stems.
You will need appropriate pruning equipment. To prune large canes from shrubs and to thin trees, a curved drawcut pruning saw and a pair of lopping shears are necessary.

Prune rabbiteye blueberries slightly less than you would highbush blueberries. Cut away just enough to keep the bush from growing too tall and its center from becoming too shaded, by lopping old, large stems to the ground.
Lopping shears are also used. They can cut branches from 0.5 inches to 1.5 inches diameter. Hedge shears are used for pruning hedges or already pruned plants. A Pruning saw is another tool used It cuts branches more than 1.5 inches in diameter.
If kept in a moist, dark shade area, within a few weeks you have a free flat of healthy impatiens. Many of the annuals are conducive to this, and the original lopping actually helps the parent plant to become bushier.
