Mesic- Refers to a habitat that is well-drained but usually moist through most of the growing season.
Node- The place on a stem where the leaves or branches are attached.
Perennial- A plant that normally lives for 3 years or more.

Mesic- Characterized by intermediate moisture conditions, neither decidedly wet nor decidedly dry.
Mesophyte- A plant whose normal habitat is neither very wet nor very dry.

mesic search for term- a. (Gr. mesos, middle) conditioned by temperate moist climate; neither xerix nor hydric; pertaining to conditions of medium moisture supply.microphyllidious search for term- small, leaf-shaped.

Native plant communities are classified by ecologists into three broad categories based on their moisture conditions: xeric or dry, hydric or wet, and mesic or moist.
