Miniature roses are true roses, bred to stay small in size. Most mini roses also have smaller flowers than standard rose bushes, but they come in a variety of types and colors. Despite their small size, miniature roses are extremely hardy.
Miniature roses are perfect container plants for small-space gardens, decks and patios. Choose from standards - those grafted to treelike shapes - and traditional shrub forms.

This class of roses is growing in popularity. The height of these delicate, pretty plants varies from around 9 to 18 inches. Some people like to grow it as an indoor plant but it is often unhappy indoors and does poorly.

Minature roses are really older than 1867, but were lumped into the Moderns when they were rediscovered in Switzerland in the late 1800's.

Pruning Miniature Roses
Miniature Roses need very little pruning.
Just prune them to the desired shape. Cut any new shoots which have emerged from below the soil line to about 1/2 their length.
Even miniature roses can be grown in window boxes or hanging baskets. Add cascading lobelia or ivy to the pots for a breathtaking display. Remember to check moisture levels every day. Large pots will not dry out as fast.
