While moles aren't exactly harmful to your lawn and garden they can make them look quite unattractive. These methods will get rid of them humanely.

Moles are notoriously difficult to exterminate because they are not attracted to rodent bait and they often burrow deep into the ground, making them difficult to reach. Moles subsist on earthworms, which are ubiquitous in soil.

Moles and voles can create extensive tunnel systems in your garden soil, damaging the roots of your vegetables and other garden plants.

Moles
Notorious pests in good soils throughout North America, moles have short forelegs pointing outward; large, flattened hands; and claws for digging tunnels.

Moles tunnel through your lawn to feed on grubs and earthworms, creating ridges and mounds.

Moles prefer moist sandy loam soils in lawns, gardens, pastures and woodlands. They generally avoid heavy, dry clay soils.

Moles and mice will burrow through the rows, and eat tubers. We recommend traps for control.

Tunneling Pests: Gophers, Chipmunks, Moles, etc.
These subterranean travelers have the advantage of being out of sight most of the time, and can do their dirty work of munching your plants undetected.

A few pests and diseases will attack bulb flowers including moles, shrews and voles, and the occasional squirrel may dine on bulbs.

Organic soaps smother insects and then degrade safely in a matter of days without harming anything else. If you have critter woes, you can fight moles with organic, biodegradable castor oil-based pellets that shoo them elsewhere.

To their credit, pests of all kinds avoid castor beans, and also may ignore nearby plants. The seeds are widely believed to repel moles when dropped into mole tunnels.
