Orris root is sold in small packets by craft and hobby stores or by mail-order herb specialists. It isn't cheap -- about $5 for two ounces -- but you don't need much. Two ounces is sufficient or as much as three or four gallon of potpourri.
Fixatives such as Orris root or Sweet Flag (available from some on-line herb merchants or health food stores) hold the scent and help the potpourri to maintain its fragrance longer.
