Pickax

Gardening PhytotoxicityPicotee

A pickaxe is a useful tool for breaking up hard dirt in a yard, or looser or softer rock in an old driveway or cement sidewalk.

Some other tools that may have a place in the garden tool shed include the pickax, mattock, and wheel cultivator. Pickaxes are used to break up extremely hard-packed or stony soil.

It was so tough and dense that it was difficult to get a pickaxe in it. So at the suggestion of Lovejoy, pieces of plywood were used to construct raised beds in a labyrinth design. Then a lot of compost was added to the raised beds.
