PLANTLET - A small plant off the original plant. A good example is the piggy back plant these will easily root. Used in propagation.
PLANT LICE - This is a reference to aphids found in British publications.

The plantlets are easily rooted when the air roots become obvious. Sometimes they may reach three to four inches long. Just cut the stem close above the plantlet, and root it in water or soil.

Or, if there are plantlets growing at the base of the mother plant, you can break those off and plant them; chances are small rootlets have already formed.

Spider Plants also thrive when grown under artificial grow lights, but they will be reluctant to produce the plantlets unless you decrease their light hours to simulate the naturally shorter days of fall, when they normally produce their 'babies'.

Some plants will literally do the work for you by producing little plantlets or offsets from the base or the stem of the "mother" plant.

In early spring, you can dig new plantlets that pop up between older plants and move them to where you want them to grow.

Slitting the stem lengthwise in a cut about 2cm long will encourage the growth of more plantlets.
Make a hole in the potting mix for the leaf cutting. The angle of the hole should be about 45 degrees so that the leaf will be almost flat.

Each plant multiplies by at last 4, in a growing season, by producing little offset plantlets all around the perimeter of the ‘Hen'. These are the ‘Chicks'. The Chicks can be snapped off and replanted elsewhere at any time.

An adventitious bud forms on roots, leaves and stems becoming plantlets which detach and then grow into plants.
Adventitous buds form on tulip bulbs around the base of the plant which create offsets that grow into flowering bulbs.

Dig up the entire clump, shake off most of the dirt, and then grip each side of the clump. Pull, twist, or tease the plantlets apart so that each stem gets some roots.

Next, place the pot in a propagator. The cutting should be kept in bright, indirect light. Fluorescent lighting works well for rooting cuttings. In six to eight weeks small plantlets should start to form from the base of the cutting.

Normally results in a population of identical individuals. Can occur by either natural means (e.g., bulblets, cormels, offsets, plantlets, or runners), or by artificial means (e.g., cuttings, division, budding, grafting, or layering).

These runners can root at leaf joints or produce new plantlets. Some of the perennial weeds like dandelion, for example, have a long tap root which if broken can produce new plants.

Rhizome-Horizontal underground stems that serve as storage organs and a means of vegetative reproduction. An underground stem, unlike a root, may have nodes, buds, and primitive leaves, and may give rise to new plantlets.

Plants that produce stolons or runners are propagated by severing the new plants from their parent stems. Plantlets at the tips of runners may be rooted while still attached to the parent, or detached and placed in a rooting medium.
