Norway maple (Acer platanoides)
Norway Maple is an attractive landscape tree that is tolerant to drought, summer heat, and soil alkalinity. It has a round to broad oval crown and is very dense.

Other maples for lovely autumn color include the Norway maple (Acer platanoides), a popular street tree; the red or swamp maple (A. rubrum), able to tolerate damp as well as normal soils; and the slow-growing, smaller (20 feet) Japanese maple (A.

Created as a symbol of peace for the 2000 millennium, it is structured with American red oaks and maples (Acer platanoides 'Crimson Queen' and Acer pseudoplatanus 'Spaethii') whose crimson leaves filter the light like stained glass.

It's a place to rest on a bench under a collection of maples: 'Royal Red' Nor­­­way (Acer platanoides 'Royal Red'), 'Born's Gracious' silver (A. saccharinum 'Born's Gracious') and paperbark (A. griseum), to name a few.
