Rotary Spreader
Thehand-held spreader is typically a small container you hold in your hand while turning a small crank to spread the fertilizer.

 


Rotary spreaders work like drop spreaders except that they throw lawn fertilizer out in wide swathes. Rotary fertilizer spreaders are thus quick and easy to use, but less precise than drop spreaders and prone to casting fertilizer beyond lawn edges.

Rotary spreaders are similar in design, but cover a wider area in less time than drop spreaders. As the wheels move, they propel a rotating disc that broadcasts the material in a wide swath to either side of the spreader.

There are several ways to distribute fertilizer. Rotary spreaders are a better choice than the drop spreaders because the rotary versions apply the fertilizer more evenly.

After topcoating, use a handheld rotary spreader to add extra grass seed. It'll wash into the soil and help fill in any bare spots.

Spread grass seed evenly in the amount specified on the seed packaging based on the size of your lawn using a rotary spreader, drop spreader, or hand spreader.
