Row cover fabric

Gardening Row coverRow covers

Use row cover fabric over crops to keep moths and other insects from laying eggs and doing damage.

The beauty of row cover fabric is that you can water seeds or transplants through it. After seeds are germinated and transplants acclimated, remove the fabric and your garden is off and growing.

Use row cover fabric stretched over wire hoops to make an easy and effective cloche. Cover areas that are not planted with cover crops with a layer of partially or fully decomposed compost and mulch.

Start them under row cover fabric, but once up and growing they laugh at the cold. Also, plant cool weather leafies including leaf lettuce, spinach, greens and chard, especially under row covers, a short row or two every couple of weeks.

In vegetable gardens, synthetic seed germination fabric (also sold as row cover fabric) is used. Anchor burlap or fabric with soil or wire U pins at the edges.
