rugose. A rough appearance of leaves in which veins are sunken and interveinal tissue raised, caused by certain virus infections.

RUGOSE: Rough and wrinkled.
RUN: A plant that runs will be growing rapidly underground. Great for ground cover but some plants take over an area by running.

It has wide, irregular, creamy-white margins that jet towards the dark center. The leaves vary from elongated to more rounded and are rugose. Near white flowers in late June to early July are held well above the foliage.

In common usage, "rhododendron" usually refers to members of the subgenera Rhododendron and Hymenanthes, as distinct from the azaleas. rotate Wheel shaped, saucer-like rugose Wrinkled. rugulose Lightly wrinkled.
