The saponin properties found in soapwort plant is responsible for creating the bubbles that produce soap. You can easily make your own liquid soap simply by taking about twelve leafy stems and adding them to a pint of water.
They are generally pest free-and it's no wonder: Their foliage is chock-full of a potent mixture of oxalic and hydrocyanic acids, calcium oxalate crystals, and saponins.
