Semi-double flower - A type of flower which has double the normal amount of petals arranged in two-three rows of petals.

Semi-double flowers and blooms with dark margins are the result of work by hybridizer Helen Ballard, in England. ‘Peggy Ballard' Is a deep reddish pink with a darker center and veins. ‘Philip Ballard' is a dark bluish-black.

Introduced in 1932, the climbing (to seven feet) rose produces brilliant, scarlet-red clusters of semi-double flowers in tremendous quantities in June.

Every spreading cane carries clusters of large, semi-double flowers in cream and peach that shine like pearls. The musky scent and the impressive orange hips that follow the flowers are extra benefits.

'Mission Bells' Mix: ruffled semi-double flowers in red, pink, orange and yellow shades. Plants are 6" tall and good performers.
'Thai Silk' Series: shiny, silky flowers in wide variety of bright colors on 10" tall plants with bronze tinted foliage.

The 2-foot tall 'Persian Carpet' bears 2-inch double and semi-double flowers in a riot of autumn colors and patterns.

'Niobe', and those with double or semi-double flowers, including C.'Vyvyan Pennel'.
Keep plants tidy by removing dead and dying stems in late winter, cutting back to a strong pair of buds.

Bring the butterflies in with style by planting 'Double Click' cosmos. These double to semi-double flowers with fluted petals come in a mix of red, pink and white.
