Sheathing - base of the leaf is wrapped around the stem like a grass leaf, as in Zea mays (corn) and Zingiber spp. (ginger).
Decurrent - leaf base extends downward to form a wing or ridge along the stem, as in Psidium guajava (guava).
sheath. The part of a grass leaf that encloses the stem below the collar region.
Sheath An elongated, more or less tubular structure enveloping an organ or plant part; a tube-shaped part containing a leaf of a grass or similar plant.
Short-season crop A plant capable of producing parts in a minimum of days.
The sheathing helps to stiffen your structure. One of the most common types of siding is the lapped bevel. Cedar is one of the popular woods from which this siding is made. It comes in 4-, 6-, and 8-inch widths.
Soon after the sheath appears, it starts to fill up with flower buds. These buds can be most easily seen when the plant is held up to the light so the sheath is back lit.

The bedroom wings are sheathed in Radiata pine, a plantation-grown (thus easily renewable) hardwood.
This trait makes grass ideal for lawns because they keep on growing despite the regular mowing off of their upper stem, leaf sheath and blades. This is also why it's important not to damage grass crowns by accidental scalping with the mower.
The Sheathers propagate most of their plants on site, and are particularly interested in species that have not being propagated before.

Don't be fooled by sooty-looking flecks on sheaths that form the stems of Areca palms; they occur naturally and do not signify insect or disease problems.

The young nymphs begin to feed by inserting their mouthparts in grass stems, usually while under a leaf sheath. The nymphs grow slowly at the beginning of the season because of cool temperatures but speed their development by July.
Needles are soft-textured evergreen, 2.5 to 3.5 inches in length, blue green in color and are borne in bundles of five. Needle sheaths are deciduous and are shed after the first year.
Pull up the garlic bulbs when the tops start to yellow and dry. Place the bulbs on screens to dry. When the bulbs are dry, trim the roots off close to the bulb, remove the loose outer sheaths, and then store under cool, dry conditions.
These prices don't include shingles or additional required framing materials such as furring, roof sheathing, soffit and fascia board.
The rest of the year this vine produces really outstanding, shiny evergreen or semi-deciduous foliage. Something about its growth habit makes this vine weave a tidy emerald sheath over chain link and woven wire fences.
Fertilizing: As the bloom bud clears the neck of the bulb, apply liquid organic fertilizer every seven to ten days, until the color begins to show in the blossom bud through the sheath.
Special hint: Grow in a warm spot in a sunny window.
