Sooty mildew

Gardening SolventSooty mold

SOOTY MILDEW - is a fungus. It looks like a dark gray spots or in general scum on stems and leaves. It is formed from the honey dew excreted that is produced by aphids and other insects.

But, often in late summer when days are humid and nights are cool, spores of disfiguring leaf diseases like powdery and sooty mildew can erupt. Unfortunately, there is no one-size-fits-all fungicide that will control all fungal plant diseases.

Often confused with sooty mildew and powdery mildew. As with all mildews it is a problem in hot and humid weather. And, like many fungi it transports its spores. The plants affected will have fuzzy patches on the leaves.
