For all states, the state flowers represent history, a symbol of time and tradition, of passion and work.

 


Minnesota's state flower grows in a range reaching roughly halfway across the state, covering nearly all of the eastern part of the state and reaching nearly to the southern border.

The original Texas state flower was Lupinus subcarnosus. Along with L. texensis, they're the only commercially available Texas bluebonnets presently available by seed. L.

Fungal diseases can mar the foliage and bracts of Virginia's state flower, the native flowering dogwood, Cornus florida. The diseases, spot anthracnose and Septoria leaf spot, appear every year to some degree and in most years cause little damage.

Here in South Central Oklahoma, Gaillardia, our state flower is a hands-down winner.

The pink lady's slipper may be the state flower of Minnesota, but if there was ever a popularity poll for perennials, the hosta would surely prevail.

REMEMBRANCEŽ Columbine (Aquilegia 'Swan Violet & White') is a hybrid derived from Colorado's state flower. The petals and spurs of this perennial are an incredibly rich, shining violet-blue.

The state flower of both Connecticut and Pennsylvania, mountain laurel puts on a magnificent annual floral display, but provides beauty year-round.

The first, Lewisia, is the state flower of Montana. The plant, also called bitterroot, fills the floor of the prairie in the spring with radiant flowers of white and pink.

Also called the "Rocky Mountain Columbine", they are the state flower of Colorado.

Columbine are grown from seed. Directly seed them into your flower garden.

Big, bold, and beautiful - the southern magnolia is a legend in the Deep South. So much so, it holds the honor of being the state tree and flower of Mississippi, and is the state flower of Louisiana.
