Sticky traps are a good choice in indoor gardens. They catch flying and small crawling insects that suck or rasp the stems and leaves of houseplants.

Yellow sticky traps suspended above houseplants may capture several adults, or careful use of a houseplant insecticide containing resmethrin can control adult gnats.

Yellow sticky traps are a simple way of maintaining health and vigour in the vegetable garden when there are high infestations of insects in autumn and spring. The colour attracts them and the sticky surface remains even after rain.

First, place sticky traps around the perimeter of your entire home. Sticky traps are effective against crickets and are perfect for homeowners with small children or pets because they are the safest form of extermination.

Discard used sticky traps after a week or two; replace them if needed. Traps may not eliminate an insect problem entirely, but they will reduce the population of flying insects.

AM emergence and activity in an area can be determined by placing large cages over several seedings of infested fruit set up in late summer to monitor for the following spring and by hanging sticky traps in unsprayed apple or hawthorn trees.

To combat whiteflies, use yellow sticky traps. Control red spider mites by washing the leaves with a brisk spray of chilly water. The water treatment doesn't kill the mites, but the inclement conditions force them to abscond.

Purdue University researchers recently did a study comparing the effectiveness of various cockroach attractants placed on sticky traps and installed in a simulated kitchen.

These butterfly shaped pot stickers are actually yellow sticky traps. Nothing says holiday time like indoor plants and, let's face it, the bugs love our plants as much as we do.

You might be able to trap pests by using sticky traps or you might decide to plant varieties that are resistant to specific pests. You might choose to place certain plants in different sites to preclude them from injury.

Prevention/Control: These are resistant to most pesticides so it's best to use organic methods, such as biological control or yellow sticky traps.

Yellow sticky traps, either purchased or homemade from boards painted with Rustoleum No. 659 and smeared with a light coating of grease, are effective in trapping whiteflies.

Hanging bright yellow sticky traps near gardenias or hibiscus can trap white flies. Shallow trays of beer strategically placed where slugs are a problem can attract slugs, where they fall in the beer and drown.

A strong water spray will wash them off the plant, repeat at least 3 times. Handpicking, by squeezing the bugs between your fingers will help reduce the population. Yellow sticky traps will attract and control aphids.

Control only if plants are showing signs of stress or damage. Sticky traps can be used, but cover traps to keep birds off while allowing insects in. Neem, horticultural oils and other insecticides also can be used.
