Caterpillars ingest leaves sprayed with this compound and it will act as a stomach poison and kill them. It won't hurt you or other insects, so don't use this product if you are trying to kill aphids.

 


As a contact insecticide as well as a stomach poison, rotenone acts as a "respiratory enzyme inhibitor," slowing down the heartbeat, reducing oxygen consumption and finally producing paralysis.

They are a contact and a stomach poison which are lethal to most insects. They break down quickly in sunlight. Derived from the flowers of Tanacetum cinerarifolium (pyrethrum-related to the tansy and feverfew.) ...

It contains an alkaloid known as veratrine which acts as contact and stomach poison for insects. It is used as a less toxic alternative to rotenone, although it can cause respiratory and eye irritation in mammals.

Boracare is a Borate based product which penetrates the wood and then acts as a stomach poison to any wood eating insect. It won't stop carpenter ants or bees since they don't actually eat the wood.
