Advice on Thinning Out Bulbs and Planting New Ones
Hello, I'm a beginning gardener and I'm new to GardenGuides.com. A couple years ago my wife and I planted some Lilies. The Lilies have been growing and blooming nicely these past two summers.

Removing or thinning out trees that are crowding an area is worth considering - especially if they're diseased, blocking out major amounts of sunlight or growing into power lines.

Lilacs apparently don't need heavy pruning but can do with a bit of thinning out.

The removing of leaves, the suckering of water shoots, the twining of shoots and the thinning out of bunches (if you want larger berries) is not often done by home grape growers.

A shortcut for those unwilling to fritter away an entire afternoon thinning out small fruit is to clip off entire bunches using scissors or small pruning shears.

Maintenance pruning in subsequent years will amount to thinning out the older branches to encourage new growth. Cut back the oldest, thickest branches to near ground level and prune back branches that have gotten to long or that are growing too thin.

Camellia pruning to control disease and pests consists of thinning out some of the inner branches to improve air flow and allow more light to reach deeper into the plant. These two factors can help reduce problems that are common to a camellia plant.

They are also the tool used most often for making precision snips, thinning out unwanted branches, and reaching places other tools can't. Pruners can cut soft green wood up to 3/4 inch in diameter and hard old wood up to 1/2 inch across.
