Variety
A variety is a plant that has evolved in the wild from a species or subspecies and which is sufficiently distinct to be given its own varietal name after the abbreviation var. For example,Acer palmatum var.

Description:
Hard skinned gourds tend to start out some shade of green, perhaps mottled with white. After drying or curing, they age to a tan or brown color.

Loose-Leaf: This non-heading lettuce comes in a variety of leaf shapes and colors. This type is best for the home gardener because it can withstand hotter temperatures and is slower to bolt (go to seed) than most.

At 80 days, this variety is early for a beefsteak-type, so I usually get a couple weeks worth of ripe fruit before frost. Tomato Ladders work well for this variety.

A wide variety of materials can be used as mulch. To minimize cost and make use of yard waste, you can use materials that your yard already produces. Autumn leaves, lawn clippings, compost and pine needles are all suitable for use as mulch.
