To bake a pie crust without a filling. Line the crust with waxed paper and fill with dried beans. Bake at 200 °C (400 °F) gas 6 for 15 minutes or until pastry is lightly browned.

 


Bake blind
A method used to cook pastry flans and tarts, without their fillings, to precook the pastry and prevent it from bubbling.

Bake Blind - A baking technique by which a pie or tart shell is cooked prior to filling it. This is done to keep the shell bottom from soaking through and producing a soggy crust.

Bake Blind (also called blind baking) - A term for baking a pastry shell (pie crust) before it is filled. There are two methods used. 1.

Bake Blind - If you have a filling that does not need to be baked, or a very juicy berry filling, or one that does not need much baking, it may be necessary to pre-bake or "bake blind" the unfilled pie or tart shell.

Bake blind : To partially or completely bake an unfilled pastry crust.
Baking powder : A chemical leavener made with an acidic ingredient and an alkaline one; most commonly these are sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and cream of tartar.

Bake blind as before and mix your chosen ingredients with eggs and milk/cream/cheese sauce/canned tomatoes, whatever you fancy trying.

Bake Blind: Also known as Baking Blind. To bake an unfilled tart shell to produce a partially or fully baked crust. The shell is usually pricked all over with a fork to prevent it from blistering and rising.

Line the tart case with tin foil, fill with baking beans and bake blind for 10 - 15 minutes. Remove the baking beans and foil, cover the edge of the tart case with foil to prevent burning, and return to the oven for 10-15 minutes.
