Breadsticks are a staple in many restaurants, as well as being a favorite around the house. But how did breadsticks come about and how are they made?

Place strips on prepared baking sheets. Bake, one sheet at a time, for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire racks. Makes about 24 breadsticks.

"Lunchables" packaged lunches, replacing high phe items with low phe items such as breadsticks with sauce, crackers, low protein cheese, fruit roll ups, raisins, grapes, mini pickles and then hot glue the package closed.

Sage is a wonderful flavor enhancer for seafood, vegetables, breadsticks, cornbreads, muffins, and other savory breads. Top swordfish, tuna, steaks, chicken, and turkey pieces with Sage-lemon butter.

Other traditional pesto applications are equally good " as a dip for vegetables or breadsticks, a garnish, a condiment, a spread for bread or on a savory sandwich instead of mayonnaise, or swirled into a light sauce to boost the flavor.

Instead, cut back on the things that are "no big deal" for you to change. Consider these: switch to skim milk, diet soda, dry toast, and low fat dressings. Get used to black coffee. Stop at 10 chips and don't butter the breadstick.
