-Run a palette or rounded butter knife around the inside edge of the cake tin and carefully turn the cake out onto a cooling rack.

 


Dip your cup into the bin, fill to overflowing and level it off by sweeping the edge of a butter knife across the top. Be careful if you are using a cup larger than what is needed (as in a one cup measure to get 1/2 cup worth of ingredients).

If your pie has a top crust, use a butter knife to make make deep slits in it; this will keep your pie from getting soggy.

Butter is commonly sold in sticks (pictured) or blocks, and frequently served with the use of a butter knife.

It is generally best to scrape the thistle away with a sideways motion of a dull table knife (a butter knife). Some practice will be required. If this process is difficult, it is likely that the artichoke was not cooked enough.

(An easier option is simply to frost each cupcake orange and draw ridges from top to bottom with a butter knife.) Use pretzel nuggets for the pumpkin stems and cut flattened green gumdrops into leaves. Makes 12 cupcakes ...
