Ice cider is a beverage made from sweet ripe apples which have been allowed to freeze on the tree. The result is a rich drink with a slight acidity which makes it refreshing, rather than cloying, as many sweet ciders tend to be.

Calvados An apple brandy from Normandy, France made from cider that has been aged for up to two years and distilled. Canadian Bacon The large rib-eye muscle of the pork loin, cured and smoked.

The Normandy version includes seafood and is flavored with cider and Calvados. These stews are normally embellished with pearl onions and mushrooms.

Cider vinegar: Cider vinegar is the product of yeast-fermented apple juice, giving it a decidedly apple-like aroma and golden color.
