Cider vinegar is a type of vinegar made from cider, typically cider made with apples. Cider is a liquid made by pressing fresh fruit.

Cider vinegar is a pale, golden vinegar with the fruity flavor and tang of apple cider from which it is made.

Apple Cider Vinegar: Apple cider vinegar (ACV), or cider vinegar, is typically used in salad dressings, marinades and vinaigrettes.

Apple cider vinegar: Plain apple cider can easily be made into apple cider vinegar if left to stand in an open bottle for about 5 weeks. The bottle should be kept at 70 degrees Fahrenheit. It will first become hard cider and then vinegar.

Cider vinegar is also claimed to be a solution to dandruff, in that the acid in the vinegar kills the fungus Malassezia furfur (formerly known as Pityrosporum ovale) and restores the chemical balance of the skin.

Preheat the oven to 425° F. Cut along both sides of the wishbone and remove it. Tuck 1 wedge of onion and 1 wedge of apple in the neck cavity along with 1 sprig each of sage, thyme, rosemary and oregano.

Traditional Chutney Recipe
This classic British chutney is good with cold meats or cheese. If you like a more robust chutney, swap the light sugar for dark and the cider vinegar for malt.

However, in the past it was the liquid left over after churning butter. You can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of white distilled vinegar, cider vinegar, or lemon juice to 1 cup of milk. Let stand 5 to 10 minutes before using.
