Cockles: Clams or donax. (Any of various bivalve molluscs having a shell closed by two muscles at opposite ends).

CONFETTURA - Jam. Also called marmellata, which originally meant citrus fruit marmalade.

Cockles - [Great Britain] Clams or donax. Any of various bivalve mollusks having a shell closed by two muscles at opposite ends.
Coco - [Spanish] coconut.

Cockles are the family Cardiidae of bivalve mollusks.
The rounded shells are symmetrical, heart-shaped and feature strongly pronounced ribs.

Cockles - common name for certain marine bivalves, related to the quahog and the razor clam. The name cockle applies especially to the common edible European species. Cockles have two hinged, heart-shaped shells with prominent ribs.

Then, the cockles are cooked with the meat and finally garnished with lots of coriander.
Carne macinata (It.): ground meat.
Carne secca di vitello con olio e limone (It.): dried veal with oil and lemon.
Carne suina (It.): pork.

Cherrystone or littleneck clams or cockles make the best chowder, but are more expensive than some other varieties. Lesser clams may not win you awards, but can still be delicious.

12 rashers rindless streaky bacon, cut into strips
2 large onions, peeled and chopped
4 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Cockle. A type of shellfish or mollusk. A popular snack from Thailand, dried cockles are spiced and canned. One should, however, be very cautious with raw cockles, as they have been linked to hepatitis, a virus that attacks the liver.
