Cookie cutters, tools used to shape cookie dough, are a necessity for any baker. Whether you're making cookies for your cousin's baby shower or planning a Christmas cookie swap, there is a cookie cutter available that fits your needs.

Cookie Cutter: A tin, stainless steel, copper, or plastic shaped tool with a sharp edge that is used to stamp out shapes from dough to make cookies, biscuits, scones, pasty, sandwiches, French toast, or to make designs on a cake.

Cut out shapes with 1-1/2-inch cookie cutters and transfer to prepared cookie sheets. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden. Cool on wire racks. Makes 6 dozen.
Make Decorative Icing: Combine all icing ingredients in large bowl.

For Valentines Day, my children love low protein pizza made into a heart shape (or you can use a heart shaped cookie cutter to make an impression on the finished pizza before baking, cutting into the crust).

Make Halloween-shaped tortilla chips by using cookie cutters to cut shapes out of the tortillas, then deep fry them until crisp. You can also make low-fat tortilla chips by baking your cutouts in a 350 degree F oven.

Using a 4-inch star-shape cookie cutter, cut out dough. Paint the coat and hat areas with red-tinted Egg Paint before baking. Pipe Snow Frosting from a decorating bag fitted with a star tip where a textured look is desired.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough out to a 2cm/¾in thickness. Cut 10-12 rounds from the dough using an upturned mug or cookie cutter and roll each into a ball.
