Corn starch:
The fine, powdery flour obtained from the endosperm of corn used as a thickener for pie fillings and puddings; in combination with wheat flour in cakes, cookies, pastries, it produces a fine-textured product.

Corn starch or other starches cause a pudding to thicken, and we are not aware of any ingredient in a creamer that would defeat this, but we did read something somewhere about non-dairy creamers hampering the thickening of instant puddings.

Add corn starch and continue to simmer while constantly stirring until thick.
Put miki noodles in a strainer and dip in boiling water for 5 minutes or until cooked.

STIR corn starch mixture into the stock using a wire whisk. Add the sage. Stirring constantly, bring to a boil. Boil 1 minute, until thickened. If desired, season with salt and pepper to taste.

Here's what you do:
Check your recipe, to see how much powdered sugar you need.
Measure out that amount of granulated sugar -- 1 cup of granulated sugar will make 1 cup of powdered sugar.

In Asian cooking, a similar effect is obtained from a mixture of rice or corn starch and water.

A common ingredient in the US made by adding enzymes to corn starch, turning it into syrup of dextrose, maltose and/or glucose. It comes in two flavours - dark and light.

These may be classed as seasonings, natural flavorings, hydrolyzed soy protein, soy extract, hydrolyzed yeast, hydrolyzed vegetable proteins, autolyzed yeast, textured protein, soy sauce, protein isolate, modified corn starch, yeast extract, ...

A simpler recipe for oyster sauce is to simply mix oyster broth with soy sauce and corn starch and cook until reduced down and thick, but that sauce is not as creamy or flavorful as the recipe listed above.

Common substitutes from scratch include corn starch (2T per egg) or soy flour (1T + 2T water). Many use ready-made substitutes such as Ener-G brand egg replacer, which is largely made from potato starch.

Meat is also frequently coated with a mixture of corn starch and five spice powder and deep-fried. Lastly, it is often contained in marinades for meat to be stir-fried. Since the mixture is very aromatic, it should be used with care.

Typical marinade ingredients include chicken stock or beef stock, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, chili sauce, corn starch, brown sugar, rice wine or dry sherry. Marinate for a least one hour, longer is better.
