Crisphead lettuce

Gastronomy CrimpCrockpot

A type of crisphead lettuce that has crisp, light green leaves that are formed into a densely packed head. Iceberg lettuce is popular in salads, but has very little flavor. It is best when served with salad dressings that are highly seasoned.

Like other crisphead lettuces, iceberg lettuce is firm and very crunchy. The lettuce is named for its pale color, which may be encouraged by covering the lettuce as it grows.

iceberg lettuce = head lettuce = cabbage lettuce = crisphead lettuce Notes: This is prized for its crispness and longevity in the refrigerator, but it's a bit short on flavor and nutrients.
