Gastronomy CrudoCrumb

Cruller - a doughnut of twisted shape, very light in texture.
Crumb - to moisten food with an adhesive liquid such as milk, beaten egg or batter, then roll it in bread or cracker crumbs.

 


Crullers - Pastry strips or twists, fried in deep fat.
Crumpets - Disk-shaped yeast muffins, usually served toasted.

Chinese Crullers
Chinese name for Fried Dough or Crullers. An unsweetened dough made from flour and yeast is shaped into long twin strips and deep fried until it is fluffy and golden brown.

Bunuelos: Similar to crullers, they are made with flour, cassava meal or mashed sweet potato and have fruit fillings like guava and banana.

the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) no longer reccommends its use for home canning. Alum is also sometimes used as a home remedy; treating canker sores for example. In Chinese cooking, it is one of the ingredients used to make deep-fried crullers.
