Crush
This technique is often used for crushing graham crackers or cookies when making a crust for a cheesecake.

An ice crusher is an important tool for use in a home bar, and particularly appropriate and convenient when it comes to entertaining guests. Ice crushers are available in a variety of different shapes and sizes.

The food world wants you to get in your car and go to the store and buy cardamom seeds or whole pods, which you then crush lovingly with your fancy marble mortar and pestle.

Crush and soak saffron to release its flavour. Saffron threads are quite frail and can easily be crumbled between your fingers, although for a more uniform powder, use a mortar and pestle. Measure (or count) saffron threads before crushing.
