Solid carbon dioxide, known as dry ice, is used also as a refrigerant. Having no liquid phase at normal atmospheric pressure, it sublimes directly from the solid to vapor phase at a temperature of -78.5 °C (-109.3 °F).
If you opt to buy your turducken rather than make it yourself it will arrive via overnight shipping, frozen, packed in dry ice in a Styrofoam box, as in the photo at left.
