A grill grate is the grate that sits atop the heat source of the grill, onto which you place food for cooking. Although the other parts of the grill are important, you can't barbecue in most cases without the grill grate.
1. Grill grates should be cleaned or scraped prior to grilling and oil (i.e. Vegetable, Olive Oil) should be applied with cloth to prevent sticking.
Clean the Grill Grate - Wait for the coals to die out before using a wire grill brush to clean the warm grill grate. Often times a light scrubbing with a wire grill brush is all that's necessary to ready the grate for its next use.
Another style of electric grill is one that has a solid grill grate containing deep grooves where the fat and juices collect. The grate is slightly tilted towards a drip pan where the drippings collected in the grooves will flow.
Place hens skin side down on greased grill grate, not directly over heat. Cover and cook 25 minutes, until no longer pink inside and juices run clear. Put reserved glaze in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Boil for 1 full minute.
