Bragging rights aside, the true heat of a hot sauce can be measured by a scale referred to as the Scoville scale.

 


"Hot sauce" as a specific term refers to liquids used as food flavoring which are made using a chile pepper and vinegar. More generally, the term is used to refer to any flavoring for food that adds spice to the meal.

Sure lots of commercial hot sauces exist, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try one of these great recipes to make your own homemade hot sauce. Your friends and family will be impressed with your new fiery sauce.

Salsa: Hot sauce, served with most everything. It may be made of red tomatoes or green tomatoes (or both), and usually contains chili pepper, onion, salt, and other seasonings. The texture varies from liquid to chunky and relish-like.

For the hot sauce :
Soak the chillies in ½ teacup of water for 15 minutes.
Heat the oil in a vessel and sauté the onions for some time.
Put the tomatoes and the chillies (with the water) and cook till the tomatoes becomes soft.

A hot sauce made from sun-ripened chiles which are ground into a smooth paste along with garlic. It is excellent in soups, sauces, pastas, pizzas, hot dogs, hamburgers, chow mein or on almost anything else to give it a delicious, spicy taste.

Optional: add hot sauce e.g. Tabasco for more spice if desired.
Serve with the cooked spaghetti noodles and grated cheese on top.
