kefir Pronunciation: keh-FEER Notes: Kefir is like a thin, drinkable yogurt. It was originally made in Turkey out of camel's milk. It comes plain or flavored.

Kefir Kefir is a drinkable yogurt, but with a greater variety of cultures and significant health benefits.
Khala Khala is white bread, made from dough plaited in twist by traditional Jewish recipe.

Where available, kefir is made with camel milk. The word "kefir" is derived from the Turkish word keif, which loosely translates to; good-feeling, feeling of well-being or feeling-good.

Also look for kefir, a yogurt product that's one of the oldest cultured dairy products known. Made from "kefir grains," it's an amalgamation of milk proteins, probiotic bacteria, yeasts and other fermentation byproducts.

A short list of probiotic food choices includes miso soup, some soft cheeses, yogurt products like kefir, sauerkraut and many pickles. Those who feel probiotic food is beneficial are now also interested in prebiotic food.

The first was the liquid fermented milks such as yogurt, koumiss and kefir. The second through allowing the milk to acidify to form curds and whey.
