Espresso Macchiato is a cup of espresso dolloped with a spoonful of the foam from steamed milk.

Latte macchiato (It. "stained milk"): essentially an inverted cafè latte, with the espresso poured on top of the milk. The latte macchiato is to be differentiated from the caffè macchiato.
